This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Develop and take ownership of the commercial strategy encompassing sales, marketing, and bids/contracts.
• Supervise Account Management, New Business, and Marketing initiatives to meet bookings, revenue, and retention goals.
• Hold complete accountability for the commercial P&L.
• Direct the bid and tender strategy for formal procurement and framework processes.
• Champion the most significant and strategic pursuits.
• Create pricing and packaging strategies for software licensing and managed services.
• Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with clients, industry bodies, and partners.
• Negotiate and structure lucrative, long-term commercial agreements and contracts.
• Ensure precise sales reporting, pipeline management, and forecasting.
• Collaborate with the CTO and product teams to align the commercial proposition with market requirements and influence the product roadmap.
• Recruit, develop, and inspire the sales and marketing team.
• Personally manage a select number of key accounts.
• Guarantee commercial governance, contract compliance, and customer service throughout the client lifecycle.
• Report to the Managing Director and participate on the leadership team.
• Proven understanding of the energy and/or water utility sector, including Net Zero, Smart Metering, and Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement.
• Demonstrated history of establishing commercial strategy and driving profitable growth in a B2B software or technology environment.
• Experience with enterprise software solutions marketed to large, complex, and regulated organizations.
• Extensive experience in the UK energy, water, or utilities sector.
• Familiarity with complex, long-cycle sales and formal tender/framework processes.
• Proven experience in building and leading successful sales and marketing teams.
• Experience in managing a robust, well-forecast pipeline.
• Established ability to foster and maintain relationships from operational contacts to C-suite executives.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities.
• Strong background in contract negotiation and commercial frameworks with suppliers and customers.
• Proficient IT skills, including experience managing sales and pipeline through a CRM platform.
• Willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
• A degree or equivalent in a relevant field is advantageous, or comparable director-level commercial experience.
• A well-established profile and industry knowledge within the UK energy, water, or utilities software sector is highly desirable.
• Advanced negotiation and influencing capabilities at director/board level.
• A commercially driven mindset with strategic, long-term thinking.
• Analytical skills to assess and refine commercial strategies.
• Results-oriented and self-motivated.
• Strong organizational skills, work ethic, and capability to operate in a demanding, regulated environment.
