
Commercial Credit Associate β Portfolio Management, Credit Underwriting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
β’ Assess new commercial credit applications and significant modifications from initial screening through to approval and throughout the duration of the loan.
β’ Oversee existing loan portfolios via ongoing credit monitoring, annual assessments, interim updates, covenant tracking, management of problem loans, and early warning indicators.
β’ Analyze financial statements, tax documents, due diligence reports, credit bureau information, appraisals, internal credit data, industry analyses, and peer comparisons.
β’ Conduct independent credit evaluations, assign risk ratings, assess credit risks, and provide structuring recommendations across various scenarios including baseline, company-specific, and adverse conditions.
β’ Detect suspicious activities, emerging credit risks, potential mitigants, industry issues, market trends, and financial patterns.
β’ Collaborate with relationship managers throughout the deal process and participate in client or prospect discussions.
β’ Analyze financial statements and create cash flow projections, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity analyses, financial models, and evaluations of guarantor statements.
β’ Deliver analyses, data, opinions, and assessments of credit quality during credit discussions and committee meetings.
β’ Ensure adherence to the Commercial Credit Policy and elevate risk-related concerns to management.
β’ Uphold internal control standards and act on audit and regulatory recommendations.
β’ Contribute to the training and development of junior or newly onboarded analysts.
β’ Lead transaction execution teams in collaboration with Commercial Credit Analysts.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
β’ A minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial credit, public accounting, and financial statement evaluation.
β’ Alternatively, a combined total of at least 8 years of higher education and relevant work experience, including a minimum of 4 years in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/evaluation, or related financial analysis.
β’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
β’ Strong analytical capabilities with expertise in financial modeling and credit metric evaluation.
β’ Ability to compute and interpret financial ratios, analyze data, and conduct trend analysis.
β’ Familiarity with legal documentation and structural components.
β’ Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
β’ High level of attention to detail and precision.
β’ Effective organizational and time management abilities.
β’ Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
