Commercial Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate commercial agreements, primarily involving GTM/Sales transactions in India, including contracts with enterprise customers.

• Collaborate with sales, business development, and operations teams to create high-growth go-to-market strategies.

• Keep track of and analyze regional legal and regulatory changes, focusing on data protection, technology, and AI frameworks.

• Utilize legal and regulatory expertise in contract drafting and risk evaluation.

• Create, update, and customize contract templates, playbooks, and policies.

• Offer practical, commercially oriented legal guidance to cross-functional teams.

• Assist in expanding the Legal Team’s commercial capabilities and promote a collaborative, solutions-driven culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• A law degree and the qualification to practice law in India.

• Over 7 years of relevant legal experience post-qualification.

• In-house legal experience in technology or SaaS is highly preferred.

• Background working for a US-based or global multinational from India.

• Direct experience engaging with clients both within and outside India.

• Experience in dynamic, high-growth environments.

• Demonstrated success in drafting and negotiating intricate commercial and technology agreements.

• Strong understanding of enterprise software licensing, SaaS, data protection, and intellectual property.

• Experience providing advice on privacy, cybersecurity, and issues related to cross-border data transfer.

• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional and global teams.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

• Qualification to practice law in India.
