Commercial Contracts Counsel – Nonprofit, Grants

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate, draft, and negotiate grant agreements, funding contracts, and other commercial agreements.

• Assess and authorize grant proposals to ensure alignment with organizational policies, funding standards, and relevant regulations.

• Offer legal counsel throughout the grant lifecycle, from proposal formulation to execution and ongoing management.

• Collaborate with program teams, finance, development, compliance, and leadership to facilitate grant-funded projects.

• Identify and alleviate legal and contractual risks while delivering practical, business-oriented solutions.

• Ensure that contracts and grant documentation adhere to federal, state, foundation, and private funding requirements.

• Assist in the enhancement of contracting procedures, templates, and internal policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience with commercial contracts, ideally supporting nonprofit organizations.

• Proven experience in reviewing and approving grant proposals and grant agreements.

• Strong background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts.

• Familiarity with nonprofit operations and grant funding procedures.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capacity to balance legal risks with practical business and mission-driven goals.

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar admission preferred.
