This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +22 more states.
• Designated as the responsible adjuster when injury exposure is recognized.
• Manages intricate first and third-party auto liability cases related to injuries, including complex litigated matters involving defense attorneys.
• May oversee first-party medical payment and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims.
• Accountable for managing, investigating, and negotiating claims, including working with defense counsel to devise negotiation strategies.
• Acts as the representative of the organization through phone communication or in-person attendance at mediations and settlement conferences for litigation claims.
• Engages directly with defense counsel, providing guidance, authority for resolution, and ensuring a balanced outcome regarding defense costs and indemnity on litigation claims.
• Makes coverage determinations and informs customers about the appropriate actions regarding coverage issues.
• Conducts complex investigative tasks (such as interviewing witnesses, obtaining and analyzing evidence, including medical records, and deciding if an independent medical examination is necessary).
• Guides defense counsel in both litigated and non-litigated claims.
• May necessitate representing the insureds at arbitration hearings and trials.
• May require providing testimony in a deposition setting.
• Assesses defense counsel fees and costs for reasonableness and resolves any discrepancies.
• Evaluates subrogation potential and initiates the initial notice of subrogation request.
• Makes final settlement decisions within the established authority, without the need for supervisory approval, and formulates negotiation strategies.
• Presents cases in committee settings when seeking settlement authority beyond the approved level; thereafter, independently negotiates and resolves the claim.
• Develops and delivers executive summaries on individual claims to external clients and internal executives in a virtual format to obtain alignment on next steps and settlements.
• Manages a variety of commercial product types, including but not limited to auto, fleet, last-mile delivery, and trucking.
• Will handle claims across most geographical regions.
• Oversees claims involving various vehicle types, which may include but are not limited to automobiles, motorcycles, scooters, recreational vehicles, trucks, and remote-controlled delivery vehicles.
• Understands and manages claims in accordance with applicable insurance program agreements and claim service level agreements.
• Plays a key role in the development of other adjusters through mentorship, training, and coaching.
• Over 6 years of claims experience.
• More than 3 years of experience in a Casualty claims position within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance sector.
• At least 1 year in a Senior Casualty role or equivalent complex casualty/litigation experience.
• BA/BS in business, insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess an Adjuster license for all relevant states or acquire the necessary license(s) within 90 days of assuming the position as a condition of employment.
