This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee intricate collection portfolios, focusing on escalated accounts, aged balances, disputed receivables, legal-related accounts, and high-priority insurance carrier receivables.
• Collaborate with carriers, attorneys, customers, internal finance teams, operations, and leadership to identify obstacles to payment and drive prompt resolutions.
• Conduct proactive follow-up on overdue invoices, payment statuses, portal submissions, claim documentation, and other collection requirements.
• Analyze account histories, billing details, statements of insurance, customer communications, and supporting documents to determine suitable collection strategies.
• Act as an escalation point for intricate customer issues and aid in resolving disputes, short payments, unapplied payments, and documentation deficiencies.
• Assist in prioritizing collection efforts, monitoring aging trends, and pinpointing accounts that need management intervention or escalation.
• Support colleagues by sharing best practices, addressing process inquiries, reviewing collection methods, and ensuring consistent implementation.
• May function as a team lead and take on supervisory duties over time, including coaching, workload management, performance follow-up, and process adherence.
• Generate collection updates, account notes, aging reports, and analytical insights to facilitate management reviews and month-end reporting.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives related to collections workflows, escalation procedures, reporting, documentation standards, and cash application coordination.
• 2–5+ years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, billing, customer service, or related finance roles.
• Experience in collecting on professional services invoices within a project-based organization is highly preferred, including sectors like building consulting, engineering, construction consulting, forensic consulting, architecture, environmental consulting, insurance services, or other similar professional services.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to investigate payment issues, resolve disputes, and identify underlying causes of non-payment.
• Excellent organizational, follow-up, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Professional communication abilities to interact effectively with customers, external partners, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to accurate recordkeeping.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems such as NetSuite is preferred.
• Experience with reporting tools like Power BI is an advantage.
