This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +8 more states.
• Manage the daily functions of the collections team to ensure prompt resolution of overdue accounts, including loans and lines of credit.
• Formulate and implement collections policies, procedures, and performance metrics to meet departmental objectives.
• Delegate, oversee, and manage workload through staff and vendor coordination to promote efficient operations.
• Authorize settlements, short sales, modifications, and account adjustment requests within the guidelines and authority limits of the credit union.
• Create modification requests in accordance with established policies and procedures for approval by the VP of Collections.
• Process SCRA requests and debt management proposals in line with policies and procedures.
• Maintain a collections program and processes that achieve charge-off and delinquency ratios within acceptable risk tolerances and established goals, while minimizing errors.
• Review and audit delinquent accounts deemed uncollectible to ensure all efforts have been exhausted prior to approving a Charge Off.
• Recruit, train, and oversee collections staff, promoting a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to enhance team effectiveness.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk member accounts, negotiating repayment plans that meet member needs and align with credit union policies.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other relevant regulations.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role is required.
• A solid understanding of CFPB, FDCPA, WCA, Small Claims, Repossession, and Bankruptcy law is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
• Skill in managing challenging customer service situations and providing resolutions in a professional and tactful manner.
• Exceptional verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication abilities, with the capacity to remain assertive and confident in difficult situations.
• Capability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
