Collections Clerk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Accountable for supporting all activities related to billing and third-party payers.

• Must be a strong communicator capable of articulating thoughts in a professional manner both verbally and in writing, while also being a proactive individual who can detect collection trends and address them promptly.

• Identifies overdue accounts, assesses aging periods and payment sources, and takes collection actions which include reaching out to patients via telephone and resubmitting claims to the relevant payer.

• Assesses the financial status of patients and formulates contractual payment plans.

• Stays updated on all current regulations and requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers. Communicates changes to management and other team members, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.

• Effectively reduces days in Accounts Receivable and achieves designated goals.

• Handles incoming patient phone calls that overflow from Customer Service.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Preferred 2 years of experience in medical collections.

• Necessary experience with medical practice billing software.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient computer skills with familiarity in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office.

• Essential knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding as well as electronic billing.

• Capability to communicate effectively with center management, staff, patients, their families, and the physicians along with their teams.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.

• Ability to manage frequent interruptions that may require re-evaluating priorities.

• Proficient understanding of medical terminology.
