This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Collaborate with Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in urgent care utilizing a telemedicine platform, offering expert guidance and oversight for clinical decision-making, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.
• Be accessible for PAs and NPs to discuss patients who fulfill WellNow’s criteria for consultation.
• Review patient cases remotely, evaluating medical histories, symptoms, and pertinent diagnostic information to deliver accurate diagnoses and evidence-based treatment suggestions.
• Ensure adherence to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and regulatory standards for urgent care practice.
• Mentor and guide PAs and NPs, fostering continuous learning and professional growth through regular feedback, case discussions, and educational resources.
• Assess and triage urgent care cases, determining the necessary level of care, which may include referrals to specialists or transfers to an emergency department when appropriate.
• Keep abreast of the latest advancements in urgent care medicine, including best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives, contributing insights and suggestions to enhance patient safety, efficiency, and the overall quality of care within the urgent care environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient interactions, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and billing standards.
• Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and outstanding communication skills when engaging with medical staff and patients, addressing their concerns and providing clear follow-up care instructions.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated experience as a Collaborating Physician in urgent care, emergency department, or telemedicine settings.
• Familiarity with telemedicine platforms and technologies, including electronic medical records (EMR) systems and video conferencing tools.
• Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in urgent care medicine, including the capacity to diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of acute medical conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the skill to provide clear remote guidance and establish rapport with PAs, NPs, and patients.
• Commitment to maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality while adhering to legal and ethical standards in telemedicine practice.
