This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation and clinical records.

• Implement official guidelines, payer policies, NCCI edits, and modifier rules to enhance clean-claim rates.

• Review medical charts for specificity, medical necessity, and documentation deficiencies; escalate to CDI/provider queries as necessary.

• Assist in the prevention and resolution of denials by analyzing claim edits and identifying root causes.

• Maintain targets for productivity and accuracy while documenting coding rationale.

• Safeguard PHI and adhere to HIPAA/security best practices in a fully remote setting.

• Collaborate with billing, accounts receivable, compliance, and clinical teams to enhance revenue cycle performance.

• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

• Current credentials such as CPC, CCS, CIC, COC, or CRC (coding certification must align with the role).

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding for both professional fee and facility settings.

• Experience in specialty coding (ER, IP, OBS, Swing) is highly preferred.

• Background in coding audits, second-level reviews, and coder coaching is advantageous.

• Knowledge of denial management, payer policy research, and appeals support is preferred.

• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and E/M guidelines.

• Familiarity with encoder/grouper tools, EHR workflows, and claim edit concepts (e.g., NCCI).

• Experience coding without the use of encoder/grouper tools.

• Working knowledge of HIPAA, documentation standards, and audit expectations.

• Ability to operate independently in a remote, metric-driven environment.
