This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• The Coding Specialist is tasked with the accurate application of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes to support reimbursement and reporting obligations.
• A collaborative team member who can engage with various departments about the state of coding.
• Recognize areas for enhancement and collaborate with relevant personnel to ensure that documentation adheres to coding standards.
• Analyze data trends and relay potential training requirements to professional development teams and leadership.
• The assignment of diagnostic and/or procedural codes will necessitate supporting medical and clinical documentation sourced from the patient’s records or referenced documents.
• Input and reconcile all medications necessary for Medicare claim submissions.
• Strive to meet performance objectives, make progress on the individual development plan (IDP), and exemplify the values and competencies of Four Seasons.
• Resolve and clarify codes and diagnoses that contain conflicting, missing, or ambiguous information by consulting with physicians, billing, palliative care, and clinical informatics to obtain additional details.
• Compile and maintain patient medical records to document conditions and treatments, providing data for third-party payers, research, or other improvement initiatives.
• Enter data, including demographic information, disease history and extent, diagnostic procedures, and treatment EMR.
• Education: An associate degree in healthcare, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: Registered Nurse (RN).
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience in the administrative, business, or healthcare sector.
• Licensures & Certifications: Certified Coder in ICD-9 and ICD-10 (being in process is acceptable).
• A valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
