
Coding Educator – Documentation Improvement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance documentation that facilitates accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Ensure appropriate E/M coding, critical care documentation, and capture of illness severity to reduce revenue loss.
• Collaborate with external CDI vendors to analyze trends and apply best practices.
• Monitor and report on revenue impacts, denial rates, and financial enhancements driven by CDI.
• Conduct focused training sessions for emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).
• Offer individualized feedback to ED providers regarding documentation requirements for procedures, diagnoses, medical necessity, and payer expectations.
• Create educational resources, including guidelines for accurately capturing ED visit levels, observation admissions, and critical care time.
• Preferred certifications include CPC, RHIT, CDIP, CCDS, CCS, or equivalent CDI certification.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CDI, coding, or emergency medicine documentation is required.
• Experience collaborating with external CDI/coding vendors and revenue cycle teams is necessary.
• Strong knowledge of ED billing, CPT coding, and payer requirements is essential.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, external vendors, and leadership teams is crucial.
