This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
β’ Ensure consistent quality in coding and training for evaluation and management, office procedures, and surgical coding.
β’ Train and develop both current and newly hired members of the remote and on-site coding teams.
β’ Conduct quality assurance reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.
β’ Offer training and ongoing development based on the results of internal and external audits.
β’ Act as a subject matter expert in clinical coding.
β’ Investigate and assess documentation issues through research and collaboration with clinical staff, Coding leadership, and Coding Specialists.
β’ Audit coders using provider documentation to confirm ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for clinic, outpatient, and hospital services.
β’ Review provider documentation to validate medical decision-making level selection for clinic office visits.
β’ Audit complex surgical cases and document the findings of such audits.
β’ Provide guidance and education to Coding Specialists, Patient Financial Services, Providers, and clinical staff.
β’ Oversee the Revo Coding Education Email and Education Work Queues.
β’ Address coding inquiries from Providers, Coding Specialists, PFS, and Coding Leadership.
β’ Relay annual updates on CMS and AMA coding guidelines.
β’ Inform about payer updates, policy changes, and documentation concerns.
β’ Conduct annual reviews of internal coding policies.
β’ Develop workflows and processes as assigned.
β’ Assist Coding Specialists with coding inquiries and appeal letters.
β’ Support PFS in investigating coding denials.
β’ Create curriculum and training materials.
β’ Participate in or organize meetings for coders.
β’ Lead training sessions.
β’ Onboard new providers regarding documentation requirements.
β’ Code for assigned providers based on departmental needs.
β’ Attend continuing education courses to maintain coding proficiency and certification standards.
β’ Perform other duties as assigned.
β’ High School diploma/GED or an equivalent qualification.
β’ CPMA Certification is required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
β’ Coding Certification (CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA) and/or completion of a Coding Program with a certificate/diploma is strongly preferred.
β’ A minimum of 3 years of medical coding experience or experience in a related medical field is preferred.
β’ Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific guidelines.
β’ In-depth understanding of medical terminology, body systems/anatomy, physiology, and disease process concepts.
β’ Ability to support the coding department during core business hours, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time Zone.
β’ Capability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more per day).
β’ Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
β’ Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds.
β’ Visual acuity to read both electronic and paper documents.
β’ Auditory ability to engage in phone or video calls clearly.
β’ Manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment.
β’ Compliance with company policies, procedures, practices, business ethics, laws, and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, and employment laws.
β’ Consistent and reliable attendance.
β’ Ability to work efficiently, manage interruptions, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload.
β’ Maintain respectful and professional communication.
β’ Logical thinking skills to identify problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
β’ Newly hired individuals must obtain CPMA certification within 6 months of hire.
