Coder, Inpatient Level III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Code and abstract medical records in accordance with established guidelines.

• Conduct limited analysis, ensuring that the documentation adequately supports the coding.

• Utilize HIM software such as Solventum (formerly 3M) 360 Encompass, EPIC, CloudMed, Iodine, and SmarterDx.

• Code and abstract with the utmost level of specificity.

• Implement AHA Coding guidelines for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.

• Maintain a quarterly accuracy rate of 95% or above.

• Carry out follow-up duties within the timeframe established by the Coding Manager.

• Adhere to the escalation policy to ensure prompt billing.

• Execute physician queries as required.

• Fulfill annual department/hospital competency requirements through NetLearning.

• Participate in staff meetings and educational sessions.

• Maintain necessary accreditations.

• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma is required.

• 4-6 years of experience or 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.

• Strong practical knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, and ROM/SOI assignment and logic.

• Proficiency in medical terminology along with knowledge of anatomy and physiology is required.

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel is required.

• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist or AAPC Certified Professional Biller certification is required upon hire.

• An Associate Degree is preferred.

• RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred.
