Medical Billing Specialist – Physical Therapy, RTM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Bill RTM on behalf of clients at a physical therapy clinic.

• Prepare, submit, monitor, and reconcile claims utilizing CPT codes 98975, 98977, 98980, and 98981.

• Review documentation in accordance with payer regulations and identify errors prior to denials.

• Participate in client onboarding and check-in calls as the billing representative.

• Submit, monitor, and reconcile claims for Joint Academy’s virtual PT services with commercial health plans.

• Address denials and appeals, along with handling ERAs/EOBs and posting payments.

• Maintain clean accounts receivable and keep aging low.

• Assist with payer enrollment and credentialing administration, including NPI/PECOS, CAQH, and commercial payer setup.

• Develop straightforward, repeatable billing processes and identify opportunities for automation.

• Act as the primary biller and billing contact for clinic partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in physical therapy billing.

• Familiarity with outpatient PT, CPT 97xxx codes, modifiers, the 8-minute rule, and plan-of-care regulations.

• Experience with commercial payers.

• Comfortable working with clearinghouses, ERAs, and payer portals.

• Proven experience in managing denials and appeals from start to finish.

• Ability to communicate effectively with clinic owners and office managers, explaining billing processes clearly and calmly.

• Self-motivated with the capability to operate the billing function independently.

• Bonus: Experience with RTM or RPM billing using CPT codes 98975–98981 and 99453–99458.

• Bonus: Credentialing and payer enrollment experience across multiple states.

• Bonus: Background in billing company operations or managing billing for multiple clinics simultaneously.

• Bonus: Knowledge of telehealth billing regulations and place-of-service codes.
