This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for patients receiving services at CSMC.
β’ Ensure accurate assignment of all relevant modifiers for patients to guarantee optimal reimbursement and the highest quality data achievable.
β’ Stay updated on coding regulations, Medicare rules, and procedures.
β’ Comprehend and apply coding guidelines for multi-specialty surgical practices and complex surgical coding.
β’ Participate in seminars and workshops to receive updates on new coding rules and regulations.
β’ Escalate issues to the Coding Supervisor and Manager.
β’ Achieve productivity and quality standards set by the Coding Supervisor and Manager.
β’ Recognize coding trends, including NCD, LCD, and CMS guidelines.
β’ Detect trends and issues related to individual physician coding practices and propose solutions.
β’ Maintain the confidentiality of patient care and business matters.
β’ Adhere to policies and procedures relevant to the coding and compliance departments.
β’ Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) is required.
β’ CIRCC (Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder) is preferred.
β’ A high school diploma or GED is required.
β’ At least 3 years of surgical coding experience in a multi-specialty medical group or physician practice (e.g., Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Gastroenterology).
β’ Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding, and payment methodologies.
β’ Working knowledge of all California and National reporting requirements.
