This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
β’ Responsible for assigning and sequencing ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
β’ Evaluates physician documentation and coding to ensure appropriateness and accuracy.
β’ Employs electronic medical records and computer-assisted coding (CAC) software.
β’ Addresses relevant coding edits as necessary.
β’ Adheres to organization-wide coding standards and practices.
β’ Engages in communication and provides educational support to an audience that may include physicians and clinical staff.
β’ High School Diploma or GED is required.
β’ An Associate's degree in a health-related field is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
β’ Understanding of medical record documentation requirements.
β’ Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations.
β’ Experience in assigning and sequencing ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes is required.
β’ A minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience is preferred.
β’ A minimum of 2 years of outpatient coding experience is preferred.
β’ Knowledge of pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, radiology, and other clinical specialties is preferred.
β’ Proficient understanding of charging and billing processes.
β’ Certification as a Certified Coding Apprentice (CCA) is required.
β’ Access to nine acute-care hospitals.
β’ Over 200 primary, specialty, and urgent care centers available.
β’ A team of more than 17,000 members and 4,000 medical staff.
