Coder, Hospital Inpatient

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Accurately assign diagnostic and procedure codes in accordance with clinical documentation and established coding guidelines for inpatient hospital accounts.

• Collaborate with clinical documentation and quality teams to verify Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MSDRG), patient safety indicators, and hospital-acquired conditions as supported by physician documentation.

• Oversee assigned work queues to guarantee timely charging of records.

• Create coding queries for any necessary clarifications regarding physician documentation.

• Keep updated on changes in coding conventions and coding updates.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience.

• No prior experience is necessary.

• Must possess one of the following professional credentials: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC®), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

• State of work location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.

• Capability to frequently lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing between 0–25 lbs.

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, and perform repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, along with vision, depth perception, hearing, speech, and keyboard/data entry tasks.

• Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and handle objects weighing between 25–50 lbs.

• Ability to rarely climb.
