This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Assess pull requests for accuracy, readability, maintainability, performance, and security prior to code integration.
• Deliver clear, constructive, and actionable written feedback that aligns with the client’s engineering standards.
• Recognize architectural issues, design trade-offs, and maintainability risks that extend beyond mere syntax or style concerns.
• Elevate complex technical issues to the client’s technical lead, providing sufficient context to facilitate swift decision-making.
• Ensure API consistency, backward compatibility, and clean integration practices across various services and applications.
• Identify prevalent security vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, XSS, IDOR, insecure authentication processes, and unsafe data management.
• Assist in upholding consistent code quality across backend, frontend, database, and cloud-native projects based on the assigned client stack.
• Foster a positive review culture by offering feedback that is professional, specific, and respectful.
• Provide reliable turnaround for pull request reviews within established asynchronous workflows, typically within 24 hours.
• Document recurring code quality challenges and patterns to enable team improvement over time.
• **Must-Have:**
• Over 4 years of professional software engineering experience in a relevant production setting.
• Proficient written English at C1 level or above; this is essential as most feedback will be written.
• Significant hands-on experience reviewing pull requests using GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or a comparable workflow.
• Extensive experience in at least one of the following stacks: Node.js or Python backend with React/TypeScript and PostgreSQL; Java with Spring Boot, microservices, and AWS or GCP; or Python data/backend stack with FastAPI or Django, SQL, and cloud-native systems.
• Strong understanding of clean coding practices, SOLID principles, common design patterns, and maintainable software architecture.
• Capacity to identify risks related to security, performance, backward compatibility, and architecture during code reviews.
• Experience working autonomously in an asynchronous remote environment, with the ability to deliver pull request reviews within 24 hours.
• **Nice to Have:**
• Experience in reviewing code across both backend and frontend systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-native development patterns in AWS or GCP.
• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or API versioning.
• Background in mentoring engineers through written technical feedback.
• Experience in creating or refining code review standards, checklists, or engineering guidelines.
