COBOL Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze, design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance systems that support Point-of-Sale and batch processes.

• Review RFPs and business requirements while collaborating with internal teams and clients.

• Contribute to the solution design, technical documentation, and development estimates.

• Create and unit test software solutions.

• Develop testing recommendations and assist in comprehensive testing of modifications and enhancements.

• Troubleshoot, investigate, resolve, and document complex application and production issues.

• Identify and implement solutions to reduce system disruptions and prevent outages.

• Provide on-call production support as required.

• Clarify technical issues and suggest suitable solutions to clients and internal teams.

• Assist in drafting functional and technical specifications.

• Present system requirements, designs, and proposed solutions to stakeholders.

• Prepare regular updates on development status for management.

• Maintain and refresh system documentation, reports, and technical exhibits.

• Support system upgrades and modernization initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with Micro Focus COBOL, CICS, JCL, and Oracle in a Linux environment.

• Proficient hands-on experience with Micro Focus COBOL, Oracle 10g/11g, CICS, and JCL.

• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to develop complex SQL statements.

• Practical experience with Micro Focus Net Express IDE.

• Experience in a Red Hat Linux environment.

• Background in developing or supporting a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) system.

• Experience in production support activities and monitoring.

• Flexibility to work either morning or afternoon shifts based on business requirements.

• Familiarity with mainframe environments and technologies.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex technical issues.

• Quick learner capable of adapting to new technologies.

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience based in the U.S.

• Preferred: experience with IBM COBOL, ACUCOBOL, or other COBOL environments.

• Preferred: understanding of ANSI-compliant databases.

• Preferred: experience working with SQL across various relational database platforms.
