This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Barbados.
• Managing the accounting functions of the companies within the designated cluster, along with any subsidiaries.
• Establishing an organizational framework within the accounting department to support the attainment of both short-term and long-term objectives.
• Supervising all transaction-processing activities for the respective cluster.
• Overseeing any outsourced accounting services related to the respective cluster.
• Collaborating with colleagues to compile the annual reports for companies in the respective cluster.
• Partnering with the GM, RGM, and other relevant team members to develop the annual budget and forecast budget projections.
• Maintaining a thorough system of accounting records for the respective cluster.
• Supervising the accounts payable and accounts receivable departments, ensuring all payments for accounts payable and debt repayments are scheduled punctually.
• Establishing appropriate procedures for Accounts Receivable in line with contractual credit terms and ensuring necessary follow-up for compliance.
• Maintaining a robust budgeting and control system designed to mitigate risks.
• Verifying the accuracy of the organization's financial results and reports.
• Providing complete, accurate, and timely financial statements to company executives, shareholders, and the board.
• Accounting for any variances in budget or forecasts and reporting significant discrepancies to management.
• Analyzing variances to pinpoint and highlight specific improvement opportunities.
• Suggesting benchmarks for measuring financial performance goals for the respective cluster.
• Evaluating capital investments, contract negotiations, and pricing strategies.
• Analyzing and assessing new business opportunities, including involvement in business proposals and negotiations.
• Actively engaging in the establishment and review of contract terms and conditions.
• Filing fiscal and regulatory reports with relevant government agencies as per their requirements, which may include monthly, quarterly, annually, or as specified.
• Ensuring timely payments for accounts payable and debt repayments.
• Maintaining a control system over all transactions.
• Complying with all local, state, country, and/or federal tax filing and reporting requirements.
• Managing and mentoring junior personnel within the accounting department.
• Conducting periodic bank reconciliations.
• Identifying and implementing reasonable discounts for accounts payable when applicable.
• Collaborating with external auditors as needed.
• Generating financial reports as required by upper management on a periodic basis.
• Working with other internal financial representatives to identify and implement best practices, including processes and systems.
• Recognizing the importance of communicating resource challenges ahead of deadlines to align expectations and facilitate the possibility of obtaining additional support if necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation.
• Preferred: Over 5 years of bookkeeping, finance, or accounting experience.
• Familiarity with International Financial Accounting (IFRS) standards, regulations, and financial practices; knowledge of various currencies and exchange rates.
• Understanding of international labor laws, unions, collective agreements, pension, and retirement practices.
• Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Adequate interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Capacity to prioritize and provide information in a timely and precise manner.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
• Opportunities for domestic and international travel, approximately 50% of the time.
