Cloudera CDP Engineer – SRE I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage the Cloudera CDP platform (Public or Private Cloud), ensuring its availability, performance, and scalability.

• Monitor, scale, and administer Hadoop and Spark clusters, services (HDFS, Hive, Impala, HBase, Kafka, etc.), and related infrastructure.

• Configure and oversee security policies and data governance tools (Ranger, Atlas, etc.).

• Create automation scripts and pipelines for deploying and managing services across the data platform.

• Investigate and address platform and data pipeline issues, collaborating with internal stakeholders and Cloudera support as necessary.

• Continuously assess system health, optimize resource utilization, and enhance the performance of workloads and queries.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation on procedures, configurations, incident responses, and best practices.

• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, and DevOps teams to integrate CDP into wider data pipelines and solutions.

• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incidents impacting platform operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with Cloudera CDH/CDP platforms (preferably CDP Public Cloud or Private Cloud Base).

• Strong expertise in the Hadoop ecosystem: HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark, Oozie, HBase, Kafka.

• Proficient in Cloudera Management tools (Cloudera Manager, CM API, Workload XM, Navigator, etc.).

• Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance tools (Ranger, Atlas, Kerberos, TLS).

• Experience in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, etc.).

• Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerized workloads is advantageous.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, capability to perform under pressure, and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Proficiency in the Italian language is required.
