This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take charge of the operational health, architectural intelligence, and cost optimization of cloud environments.
• Cultivate and sustain a thorough technical understanding of the organization's cloud architecture encompassing all major infrastructure components.
• Analyze the connection between architectural choices and cost drivers.
• Detect cost anomalies, inefficiencies, and optimization prospects across compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
• Create and uphold dashboards and reports that provide engineering and leadership with real-time insights into cloud cost trends.
• Assist in defining and enforcing cloud governance policies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate architectural decisions for their cost implications.
• Maintain runbooks and documentation related to operational data management processes.
• Act as the primary liaison for cloud cost and operations inquiries from engineering, finance, and executive stakeholders.
• Convert complex technical insights into clear, business-oriented recommendations suitable for non-technical audiences.
• Work closely with engineering leadership on roadmap decisions.
• Over 5 years of experience in cloud operations, cloud architecture, or a related technical infrastructure role.
• Proficiency in Python, especially with data science and report generation frameworks.
• Practical experience with AWS or Databricks, with a strong preference for multi-cloud expertise.
• Robust understanding of cloud-native architectures, including containerization, serverless computing, managed databases, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar tools.
• Capability to produce clear written and visual communication of technical findings for executive audiences.
• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or regulated industry cloud environments, including GxP or 21 CFR Part 11 contexts.
• Knowledge of FinOps frameworks and cloud cost management tools like CloudHealth, Apptio, or native cloud cost tools.
• Previous experience in a high-growth SaaS or enterprise software company.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or FinOps Certified Practitioner.
