Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Work collaboratively with development and operations teams to facilitate seamless application integration and deployment.

• Design, implement, and oversee Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), encompassing host pools, golden images, autoscaling, FSLogix profiles, and enhancing user experience.

• Create and sustain automation solutions utilizing PowerShell and Bicep (preferred) to optimize Azure and AVD operations, minimizing manual tasks.

• Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Bicep and ARM templates for reliable and repeatable deployment processes.

• Monitor Azure and AVD environments for performance, availability, capacity, and security, while setting up alerts and remediation strategies.

• Identify and execute cost-reduction strategies and performance enhancements, including AVD scaling plans and storage/right-sizing optimizations.

• Ensure that cloud infrastructure complies with security and compliance best practices as well as organizational standards.

• Establish and manage security policies and procedures, including IAM, network security, conditional access, RBAC, and data protection.

• Configure and oversee on-premises infrastructure and hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPN/ExpressRoute, identity synchronization) to ensure smooth Azure and AVD integration.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in Azure, including ARM, Bicep, and Azure Virtual Desktop.

• Proficiency in identity and access management via Entra (Azure AD), covering RBAC and conditional access.

• Strong knowledge of Git, GitHub, and GitHub Runners for CI/CD workflows and policy-as-code practices.

• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation, image management, and AVD administration.

• Solid foundation in Azure networking, security, and hybrid connectivity concepts.

• Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-140 for AVD, AZ-305).

• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud, and cost governance strategies.

• Familiarity with image management (e.g., Azure Image Builder) and FSLogix optimization.

• Background in FinOps, Linux, and Qlik.
