Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Perform assessments of cloud readiness and develop migration strategies to ensure smooth transitions to AWS.

• Design and create scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions on AWS, employing cloud-native technologies.

• Assist in architecting and implementing large-scale cloud-native data processing ETL tasks using AWS services.

• Offer subject matter expert (SME) advice on big data storage solutions, installations, and configurations while addressing scaling requirements.

• Aid in the analysis, architecture, design, development, administration, and management of multi-terabyte scalable enterprise end-to-end backend database systems.

• Deliver expertise and support for migrations from on-premises infrastructure to the AWS cloud, ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and high availability.

• Advise on best practices for cloud application design, deployment, and optimization, including the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Collaborate with customers to gather requirements, comprehend their application architecture, and provide customized cloud migration strategies, working closely with engineering teams for seamless application and service deployment.

• Configure and set up Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate builds, testing, and deployment within the AWS environment.

• Keep abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our service offerings.

• Lead and mentor team members in the implementation of cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with architectural standards.

• Review security scans, accessibility audits, and performance testing to guarantee compliance with cybersecurity standards; analyze results and propose mitigation or improvement strategies as needed and assist in the execution of remediation efforts to resolve identified issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture, particularly with a strong emphasis on AWS services.

• Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust security clearance - US Citizenship required.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing cloud-native applications.

• Comprehensive understanding of application migration strategies and tools.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS services (S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, QuickSight) and industry best practices.

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.

• Proficient in leveraging IaC to develop automated deployment and orchestration solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and other scripting tools.
