• Designing and developing cloud database infrastructures while facilitating the migration of legacy systems to cloud environments.
• Converting high-level requirements into effective data storage solutions.
• Creating proof of concepts (PoCs) and/or prototypes to assess various cloud database technologies.
• Architecting and deploying cloud-based database solutions across multiple platforms.
• Formulating and supporting a migration strategy from traditional on-premises databases to multi-cloud and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Leading the creation and implementation of secure, scalable, and high-performance database architectures in cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-cloud settings.
• Offering expert-level advice on transitioning legacy workloads to commercial cloud platforms.
• Developing Architecture Design Documents that align with best practices as per the Government’s selected Cloud Service Providers.
• Collaborating closely with enterprise teams to establish database standards, evaluate return on investment, and propose cost-effective, performance-enhanced solutions.
• Assisting in both strategic and operational tasks, which include configuring cloud databases, enabling diagnostics, optimizing performance, and applying security settings driven by threats.
• Overseeing database usage, addressing replication strategies, and advising on expected growth for resource planning.
• Provisioning relational databases, managing server-level operations such as scaling, restoring, or deleting instances, and configuring geo-replication along with monitoring metrics.
• Ensuring robust data management and supporting CMSO’s initiatives to establish resilient, secure, and future-ready database infrastructure.
• Over 10 years of relevant experience.
• US Citizenship Required: No.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing high-availability mission-critical systems with zero downtime.
• Familiarity with architecting on Azure, AWS, GCP, and OCI cloud platforms.
• Experience in data modeling for large multi-tenant database systems.
• Proficient in relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) database technologies.
• Knowledge of Data Bricks, Snowflake, and other cloud offerings.
• Practical experience in scaling databases to meet customer needs while ensuring data boundaries are maintained.
• Experience in data migration from distributed systems to single database environments.
• Expertise in installing and maintaining database server performance.
• Developing processes aimed at optimizing database security.
• Setting and maintaining database standards.
• Managing database access rights.
• Overseeing performance tuning of database systems.
• Installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.
• Conducting installation and maintenance of data in primary and third-party applications.
• Providing technical support and training to team members.
• Carrying out feasibility studies, cost/benefit analyses, and user training based on requests.
• Performing team leader roles for projects involving multiple stakeholders: managing deadlines, providing status updates, and facilitating final testing and project sign-offs as necessary.
• Backing up local databases and file directories for applications.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting database errors.
• Recommending and implementing cutting-edge database technologies.
• Creating and managing database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
• Automating repetitive database tasks.
• Assisting with SSL certificate installation and troubleshooting.
• Executing complete database environment installation, configuration, and ongoing administration support (IBM Informix, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle).
• Experience with non-relational database solutions in the cloud, such as DynamoDB, CosmosDB, GraphDB, DocumentDB, etc.
