Cloud Architect – Data, Azure, Power BI Solution Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the architecture of the enterprise Azure Lakehouse, ensuring it is scalable, high-performing, and sustainable over the long term.

• Spearhead the evolution of traditional Data Warehouse environments into contemporary Lakehouse and Delta Lake-based architectures.

• Assume architectural responsibility from the initial concept through to implementation, production deployment, and ongoing optimization.

• Establish and implement architectural principles, standards, patterns, and best practices for data engineering and analytics platforms.

• Design and manage data ingestion, processing, and streaming pipelines utilizing Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Event Hub, and Azure Logic Apps.

• Develop and enhance data processing solutions leveraging Delta Lake, Spark, Spark Structured Streaming, SQL, and Python.

• Create data modeling strategies across data lake and warehouse layers, employing Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault methodologies.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to execute reference architectures, prototypes, and proof-of-concept projects.

• Empower and mentor data engineering teams towards the development of autonomous, high-quality solutions.

• Ensure that platform designs adhere to enterprise security, data protection, and regulatory standards.

• Facilitate advanced analytics, self-service BI, and reporting use cases throughout the organization.

• Work closely with product owners, architects, governance, and business stakeholders within agile delivery frameworks.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of platform architecture, development processes, and operational models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a degree in (Business) Informatics, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.

• Have senior-level expertise in Data Platform / Lakehouse Architecture – Expert level.

• Bring 5+ years of practical experience in data engineering or data architecture roles.

• Demonstrate proven experience in transforming traditional Data Warehouse landscapes into Lakehouse / Delta Lake architectures.

• Exhibit a strong architectural ownership mindset encompassing design, implementation, and production readiness.

• Possess extensive practical experience with Azure Lakehouse technologies – Advanced to Expert level.

• Have strong proficiency in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Event Hub, Azure Synapse, and Azure Logic Apps.

• Exhibit advanced skills in Delta Lake, Spark, Spark Structured Streaming, SQL, and Python.

• Have a deep understanding of data lake storage architectures and modern data processing methodologies.

• Possess solid knowledge of relational and multidimensional databases.

• Have significant experience with data warehouse modeling approaches (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault).

• Experience in designing scalable IT platforms, processes, and operational models is essential.

• Ability to define architectural principles, standards, and best practices at an enterprise level is required.

• Experience in implementing prototypes, evaluations, and reference solutions is vital.

• Strong awareness of security and compliance, particularly in handling business-critical and personal data in regulated environments.

• Comfortable working in agile settings utilizing Scrum or Kanban methodologies.

• Exhibit an open and communicative working style with a passion for cross-functional collaboration.
