This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
β’ The Closing Department Manager is tasked with overseeing the complete mortgage closing process, ensuring that loans are finalized accurately, efficiently, and in adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
β’ Supervise closing operations, coordinate internal teams and external title and settlement partners, and provide expert guidance on intricate legal and title issues.
β’ Work closely with Underwriting, Credit, Processing, and Funding to enhance operational efficiency, minimize risk, and facilitate timely loan disbursement.
β’ Standardize closing processes, legal checklists, and documentation standards to guarantee compliant and error-free loan closures.
β’ Enhance Clear-to-Close turnaround times by optimizing legal and documentation workflows.
β’ Reinforce quality control measures to lessen post-closing defects and reduce legal exposure.
β’ Foster strong relationships with closing attorneys, title companies, and settlement agents to elevate service quality and operational efficiency.
β’ Act as the legal and operational authority on complex transactions, aiding in effective deal structuring and prompt loan funding.
β’ Lead the Closing Team β Manage and nurture closing staff while ensuring timely, precise, and compliant loan closures.
β’ Direct End-to-End Closings β Oversee the closing process from Clear-to-Close (CTC) to funding.
β’ Provide Legal Oversight β Review and authorize loan documents, title commitments, settlement statements, and legal exceptions.
β’ Manage Attorney & Title Relationships β Supervise closing attorneys, title companies, settlement agents, and escrow partners.
β’ Address Complex Closing Issues β Act as the main escalation point for title defects, lien priorities, vesting matters, legal disputes, and state-specific closing regulations.
β’ Ensure Regulatory Compliance β Uphold compliance with federal and state lending laws, investor requirements, and company policies throughout the closing process.
β’ Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams β Work with Underwriting, Credit, Processing, Valuations, and Funding to swiftly resolve issues and keep loans on track.
β’ Promote Process Improvement β Create standard operating procedures, enforce quality controls, and streamline workflows to decrease closing cycle durations and post-closing defects.
β’ Monitor Operational Performance β Analyze KPIs such as clear-to-close turnaround, closing cycle duration, funding accuracy, defect rates, and attorney/title vendor effectiveness.
β’ Assist in Complex Deal Structuring β Provide insights to leadership regarding legal risks, documentation needs, and transaction frameworks.
β’ A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is required.
β’ Over 10 years of progressive experience in mortgage closing operations, title, escrow, or lending is essential.
β’ Significant experience in reviewing mortgage loan documentation, title issues, and legal closing prerequisites.
β’ Demonstrated leadership experience in managing closing teams, workflows, and third-party partnerships, including title companies, settlement agents, and closing attorneys.
β’ In-depth knowledge of mortgage closing documentation, title review, lien perfection, and regulatory compliance, including TRID, RESPA, and TILA.
β’ Proven ability to resolve complex closing, title, funding, and legal challenges while ensuring timely and compliant loan closings.
β’ Remote Work Requirements: A stable, reliable internet connection and a professional, dedicated remote work setup are necessary.
β’ Preferred Background / Industry Experience: Familiarity with Non-QM mortgage lending or Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) is advantageous.
