Clojure Software Engineer – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Temporal workflows that coordinate multi-step AI operations, including product attribution, laydown image generation, outfit creation, and outfit copy generation.

• Backend services developed in Clojure that interface with LLM APIs (GPT, Gemini, etc.), manage context and prompts, handle streaming responses, and process structured outputs.

• Data models and PostgreSQL schemas designed to support intricate AI workflows, vector embeddings, and integration with our current product catalog.

• RAG pipelines utilizing Qdrant for semantic search, similarity matching, and context retrieval, enhancing AI recommendations.

• ClojureScript user interfaces for review workflows where human reviewers validate, edit, and enhance AI-generated content.

• APIs and data pipelines that integrate all components, along with monitoring systems that track AI quality and the infrastructure that enables rapid deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Extensive experience with Clojure and ClojureScript. You have developed production systems, possess a deep understanding of functional programming, and are well-versed in the ecosystem (shadow-cljs, re-frame, reagent, etc.).

• Proficient SQL skills and experience in database design. You can model complex domains in PostgreSQL, craft efficient queries, design schemas, and manage migrations, which is essential.

• Practical experience with LLMs. You have engaged with LLM APIs and comprehend prompt engineering, context windows, and the real-world challenges of non-deterministic outputs. Production experience is advantageous, but genuine understanding is prioritized.

• Naturally collaborative. You enjoy discussing and solving problems with others, are comfortable spending significant time in live technical discussions, and bring an uplifting energy to the team.

• Solid grasp of backend engineering principles. You know how to construct APIs, design data flows, manage errors effectively, and architect scalable systems.

• Fast-paced work style. You deploy frequently while balancing speed and quality, recognizing when to refactor and when to iterate, without allowing perfection to hinder progress.
