This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Clinical Specialist offers expertise and support to practitioners engaged with Infant Toddler Court Program (ITCP) grantees, as well as other team members in executing the Safe Babies or alternative infant-toddler court methodologies.
• Clinical consultation encompasses various levels of support including (1) clinical case consultation for ITCP sites, (2) coordination and facilitation of learning activities related to Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH), dyadic clinical approaches, and substance use disorder (SUD) topics within interdisciplinary learning collaboratives and communities, (3) development and execution of strategies and experiential activities designed to enhance the reflective capacity of the NRC team and those involved in Safe Babies initiatives within state systems and sites, (4) utilizing program data for continuous improvement of service delivery that reflects IECMH and SUD principles, (5) fostering relationships with local and state child-serving partners to establish referral protocols, promote information sharing, and build cross-agency support systems, (6) staying current with evidence-based IECMH, SUD interventions, and medication-assisted therapies (MAT), with a focus on trauma-responsive care in the context of child welfare, and (7) collaborating with local, state, and federal partners to advance policies that enhance the well-being of infants, toddlers, and their families.
• Seven to ten (7-10) years of documented professional experience/accomplishments emphasizing services for young children and families, as well as systems-level collaboration across service delivery frameworks focused on vulnerable children and families.
• Expertise in IECMH and SUD evidence-based interventions, assessments, and screenings.
• Prior professional training and clinical experience in supporting the relational health of children aged 0-5 and their families.
• Proven understanding of the impacts of trauma in IECMH, including historical and intergenerational trauma.
• Supervisory experience, including the provision of reflective supervision/consultation.
• Proficiency in delivering reflective practice and developing, facilitating, and applying methods that enhance organizational culture and individual engagement within child welfare and dependency court systems.
• In-depth knowledge of child welfare systems; state and federal policies regarding the abuse/neglect of young children; infant/toddler social-emotional development; and the consequences of abuse and neglect.
• Familiarity with the statutory processes and perspectives that influence dependency courts.
• Understanding of how to cultivate and safeguard the therapeutic relationship within the dependency court environment.
• Experience in providing professional development or mentoring to mental health providers.
• Effective training and group facilitation skills that embody principles of adult learning, leadership, trauma-responsiveness, and reflective practice.
• Strong interpersonal abilities to connect effectively with individuals from diverse professions, backgrounds, and cultures.
• Excellent organizational and writing skills, with the capability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic changes in the community environments in which the work is conducted.
• Ability to collaborate with individuals representing a variety of backgrounds, diversities, and skill sets.
• Capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
• Proficiency in using virtual platforms such as ZOOM and TEAMS.
• Willingness to travel (overnight and occasional weekend stays required).
