This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Gather and submit accurate data to the designated national quality database through data compilation, documentation, and database input.
• Collaborate with hospital departments to analyze data and present it in a format that is usable for clinical quality and performance enhancements.
• Recognize opportunities for clinical quality and performance enhancements and assist with special initiatives.
• Identify patient populations by utilizing program inclusion/exclusion criteria and protocols.
• Collect patient data from medical records.
• Attend weekly Morbidity and Mortality conferences to ensure accurate collection of adverse occurrence data.
• Conduct inter-rater reliability testing for reviewer methodologies and definitions.
• Identify opportunities for streamlining and improving data collection processes.
• Utilize appropriate resources to procure valid, reliable data for database entry.
• Employ software applications for data collection and analysis.
• Analyze data and collaborate with physicians and staff to propose solutions for process improvements.
• Accurately and timely enter data into the database while fulfilling caseload accrual requirements.
• Establish collaborative relationships throughout the hospital, particularly with nursing, health information management, and informatics teams.
• Communicate with patients and families via telephone or written correspondence as necessary.
• Create educational materials and deliver presentations regarding the database.
• Participate in necessary program teleconferences and the annual national conference.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy with three years of experience in a hospital setting; OR
• Diploma/Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy with three years of experience in quality outcomes within a hospital environment; OR
• Master’s degree with one year of experience in a hospital setting.
• Three years of healthcare experience focusing on process improvement initiatives and productivity systems is preferred.
• One year of clinical chart review and abstraction experience is preferred.
• Successfully complete the required National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) training.
• Ability to establish relationships, gain alignment for clinical support, and effectively communicate questions to supervisors, surgeons, and peers.
• Ability to interact professionally and courteously with members of the surgical team and administrative staff.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and other software tools for data collection, analysis, and presentation.
• Knowledge and competence in computer literacy, assertiveness, community and system resources, flexibility, interpersonal relations, diplomacy, written and verbal communication, negotiation, analysis, and research methodologies.
• Capability to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and push 50 pounds.
