This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Conduct tissue culture, harvesting, slide preparation and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
• Assess specimen acceptability based on established testing standards.
• Execute routine and complex technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Oversee, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Make informed technical decisions related to testing and problem resolution.
• Prepare, test, and assess new reagents or controls.
• Deliver accurate and timely test results to facilitate quality patient care.
• Execute and document preventive maintenance and quality control protocols.
• Assist with daily laboratory operations through FISH analysis, technical review, and workflow coordination.
• Contribute to the training and development of team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• At least 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a Bachelor's in Cytogenetics OR an MLS degree.
• Non-traditional degrees with relevant science credits that meet CLIA standards may fulfill education requirements.
• Preferred: National Credentialing Agency (NCA) Cytogenetics certification (CLSp-CG).
• Preferred: A minimum of 3 months of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetic/FISH.
• Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification.
• Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory setting.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficient in computer usage and familiar with laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
• Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Willingness to work overtime or alternative shifts as required by business needs.
• Must have a dedicated, private home office space compliant with HIPAA regulations.
• Agree to have home address included in reports of analyzed or reported cases, as mandated by CMS.
• Must have wired or wireless internet with a minimum speed of 100 Mb/sec.
• Ability to effectively work remotely in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
