This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Identify, qualify, and finalize new advertising opportunities throughout the entire sales process, from initial contact to contract signing.
• Take ownership of and meet a specified revenue goal across advocacy and progressive issue partnerships.
• Foster relationships with current and potential clients, funders, and advertising partners.
• Create and implement structured account plans to enhance advertiser ROI and promote long-term revenue growth.
• Establish relationships with senior-level advertising decision-makers and provide strategic insights.
• Collect client feedback to develop commercially viable products and offerings.
• Assess opportunities through data-driven business cases that align with advertiser objectives.
• Recognize growth opportunities to enhance existing client partnerships.
• Maintain pipeline management and accurate revenue projections.
• Create tailored pitch materials and sponsorship presentations focused on advocacy objectives.
• Collaborate with advertising operations on contracts, vendor forms, and other administrative matters.
• Monitor trends, coalitions, priorities, and funding cycles related to advocacy, issue campaigns, and foundations.
• Represent COURIER at briefings, coalition meetings, conferences, and advocacy-community events, particularly with DC agencies.
• Work alongside editorial, data and tech, product, and design teams on client partnerships and campaigns focusing on advocacy.
• Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards and best practices within the advertising sector.
• Report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and collaborate with senior leadership, including the CEO.
• Over 5 years of experience in advocacy media sales.
• Proven track record of owning revenue targets and successfully closing complex deals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capability to navigate ambiguous, fully remote, and rapidly changing environments.
• Strong understanding of client business needs and priorities to establish success metrics and align partnership objectives.
• Experience in building advertising and sponsorship partnerships with foundations, agencies, and advocacy organizations.
• Proficiency in developing data-driven business cases, pitch materials, and sponsorship presentations.
• In-depth knowledge of advocacy, issue campaign, and foundation funding landscapes.
• Ability to cultivate relationships with senior-level advertising decision-makers.
• Willingness and capability to participate in briefings, coalition meetings, conferences, and other advocacy-community engagements.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, data and tech, product, and design teams.
