Client Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• In this role, you will act as the outsourced Controller for a diverse portfolio of clients based in the US, maintaining proactive communication, engaging in calls and meetings, and ensuring that all interactions uphold our exceptional standards for service and responsiveness.

• You will be responsible for onboarding new clients, developing the accounting processes, systems, and procedures essential for establishing successful long-term relationships.

• You will spearhead special projects, including system migrations, preparation for mergers and acquisitions, budget creation, redesigning the chart of accounts, and other strategic financial initiatives.

• You will prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and management reports, offering strategic financial insights to clients regarding growth, investor reporting, and compliance.

• You will lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, delegating daily tasks, reviewing and approving work products for accuracy and quality, and coordinating workloads across various client engagements.

• Your work, along with that of your team, will be organized efficiently in Karbon, our practice management system, which is a crucial tool for successfully managing tasks across multiple clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of comprehensive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller position at a US-based public accounting firm.

• Proven experience in supporting investor-backed (VC/PE) or high-growth businesses with annual revenues exceeding $5 million.

• Extensive technical expertise in US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and US compliance, including payroll, sales & use tax, property tax, and business licenses, along with practical experience in NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online/Desktop, and Advanced Excel.

• Capacity to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards; experience in a multi-client outsourced or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment is highly preferred.

• Background in managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals, with the ability to delegate, review work, and ensure accountability to deadlines and quality benchmarks.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to distill complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for founders, CFOs, and investors.

• A humble attitude and openness to coaching and feedback, with a continuous desire to improve.

• A meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, integrity, and reliability in all tasks.
