This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Thailand.
• Act as the primary representative of the ICCT and the first staff member on the ground in Thailand, fostering and sustaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local and national government officials and agencies, NGOs, academics, industry partners, and media.
• Collaborate closely with the ICCT’s global program staff to shape the overall policy strategy for Thailand, engaging key partners to collect information and communicate pertinent findings from the ICCT’s research to aid in policy development.
• Coordinate outreach initiatives with external stakeholders and partake in public conferences or private meetings to discuss, formulate, and refine transportation policies.
• Draft and review technical reports, policy briefings, blogs, social media content, articles, and other materials summarizing the ICCT’s research.
• Collaborate with the ICCT’s global communications team to develop and implement outreach and media strategies for Thailand, enhancing the visibility of ICCT’s research and its impact on Thai policy discussions.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of technology and operational strategies aimed at reducing vehicle emissions, informing local and national policies to decrease transportation emissions.
• Assist in research related to industrial policy strategies for domestic manufacturing and assembly of zero-emission vehicles and components, engaging with government and industry stakeholders to formulate policies that strengthen Thailand’s domestic EV value chain.
• Operate with a significant degree of autonomy as the ICCT’s first staff member in Thailand, demonstrating sound judgment and leadership in day-to-day decision-making while keeping global colleagues informed and aligned regarding strategy and priorities.
• Proven experience with Thai policy-making processes and established connections within Thai government, industry, and NGOs.
• Established expertise in stakeholder engagement, including building relationships with government officials, NGOs, and media, along with facilitating collaboration on public policy development.
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, energy and resources, transportation, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be taken into account.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant stakeholder engagement and/or research experience, preferably in the transportation sector.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Thai, written and verbal.
• Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and strategic thinking abilities, complemented by a focus on delivering outcomes.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally.
• Experience in developing or supporting media and communications strategies, such as press outreach, message development, or collaborating with journalists, is advantageous.
• Demonstrated capability to conduct technical analysis and produce reports related to vehicle efficiency, electric vehicle technology, and transportation decarbonization policies is preferred.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools is desirable.
