This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• Act as the primary representative of the ICCT and the first in-country staff member in Kenya.
• Establish and nurture relationships with government officials and agencies, NGOs, academics, industry partners, and media.
• Collaborate with global program staff to formulate the ICCT’s overarching policy strategy for Kenya.
• Engage with key Kenyan partners to collect information and share pertinent findings from ICCT research to aid policy development.
• Organize outreach initiatives and actively participate in conferences and meetings focused on transportation policies.
• Write and review technical reports, policy briefings, blogs, social media posts, articles, and various research materials.
• Develop and implement outreach and media strategies for Kenya in coordination with the global communications team.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of technology and operational strategies aimed at reducing vehicle emissions.
• Work independently while keeping global colleagues informed and aligned on strategies and priorities.
• Proven experience with Kenyan policy-making processes.
• Established relationships within the Kenyan government, industry, and NGOs.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, including building relationships with government officials, NGOs, and media.
• Experience in facilitating collaboration for public policy development.
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, energy and resources, transportation, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• Over 3 years of relevant stakeholder engagement and/or research experience, preferably in transportation.
• Proficient communication skills in both English and Kiswahili, both written and verbal.
• Strong capabilities in problem-solving, interpersonal interactions, and strategic thinking.
• A focus on delivering outcomes.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion.
• Experience in developing or supporting media and communications strategies is advantageous.
• Technical analysis and report-writing experience related to vehicle efficiency, electric vehicle technology, and transportation decarbonization policies is a plus.
• Proficiency with data manipulation and analysis tools is desirable.
• Opportunities for periodic travel within Kenya and internationally.
• Equivalent professional experience will be taken into account in lieu of the specified degree.
