• Oversees an inventory of claims to assess compensability and liability.
• Organizes and executes claim investigations to verify coverage and ascertain liability, compensability, and damages.
• Evaluates and negotiates suitable claim settlements and reserves within the designated authority.
• May participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Communicates moderately complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insured parties, claimants, and external stakeholders.
• Approves payments within the assigned authority limit and ensures timely disbursement.
• Preserves accurate and comprehensive claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
• Performs additional duties as required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Typically, a minimum of 5 years of experience in property and casualty claims management.
• Completion of, or ongoing progress toward, a professional designation is preferred, such as Associate in Claims (AIC).
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage, and claims management procedures.
• Capability to organize and prioritize caseloads, ensuring prompt resolution of claims.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to cultivate relationships and lead negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with sensitivity.
