• Oversees a portfolio of claims to assess compensability and liability.
• Plans and executes claim investigations to verify coverage and ascertain liability, compensability, and damages.
• Evaluates and negotiates suitable claim settlements or reserves within the designated authority.
• May participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or court trials.
• Communicates moderately complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insured parties, claimants, and external stakeholders.
• Approves payments in line with the designated authority limit and ensures timely disbursement of funds.
• Maintains precise and comprehensive claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
• Executes additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically, a minimum of 5 years of experience in handling property and casualty claims.
• Completion of or ongoing progress toward a professional designation is preferred, such as Associate in Claims (AIC).
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures.
• Understanding of industry laws and regulations.
• Ability to organize and prioritize caseloads to ensure prompt resolution of claims.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to cultivate relationships and lead negotiations.
