Claims Manager – Commercial Auto Excess Casualty

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of specialists focused on Commercial Auto Excess Casualty claims.

• Cultivate a culture centered on technical excellence, continuous enhancement, and data-informed decision-making.

• Provide guidance on coverage analysis, litigation strategies, negotiations, and evaluations of high-severity claims.

• Conduct regular file assessments, performance reviews, and quality audits.

• Implement performance management processes — attract, hire, retain talent, and deliver comprehensive training.

• Promote a positive workplace atmosphere, encourage teamwork, and support professional development and growth.

• Supervise the management of intricate excess casualty claims, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to compliance standards.

• Establish and uphold best practices for claims management, including intake, investigation, evaluation, settlement, and recovery.

• Ensure consistent use of Reserv's structured-data workflows and the modern claims platform.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to enhance automation tools, optimize adjuster workflows, and improve system functionalities.

• Track key performance metrics, including cycle time, accuracy, severity trends, and customer satisfaction ratings.

• Accountable for the accuracy and sufficiency of all aspects related to claim reserving.

• Act as a subject matter expert for MGAs, carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

• Work closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Account Management, Compliance, and Claim Operations partners to offer insights on claim trends, risk patterns, and emerging exposures.

• Engage in client meetings, audits, and stewardship reviews, representing Reserv's claims philosophy and performance metrics.

• Assist in onboarding new programs, ensuring they align with Reserv's operational standards and client expectations.

• Prepare and deliver comprehensive claims reports, metrics, and analyses to clients; provide advice on claim trends and loss mitigation strategies.

• Guide adjusters in litigation strategies, counsel management, and address complex coverage issues.

• Review and authorize high-value settlement recommendations, coverage positions, and strategic claim decisions.

• Create and apply strategies to counter fraudulent claims and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

• Ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements and adhere to Reserv's internal best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in commercial auto liability or casualty claims, particularly in high-severity or excess layers.

• A minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in a remote setting.

• Previous leadership experience in a carrier, TPA, or MGA context.

• Strong knowledge in coverage analysis, litigation management, and evaluation of catastrophic injuries.

• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities with both internal teams and external partners.

• Comfortable with technology and capable of evolving claims systems and processes for improved efficiencies and outcomes.

• An active adjuster license is required — a resident state license if available; otherwise, a Designated Home State (DHS) license.

• Must be willing to obtain all necessary licenses within 60 days, including completing state-required examinations.

• Proven commitment to quality, accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail.

• High integrity, ethical standards, and a strong sense of accountability in managing confidential and sensitive information.
