📋 Description

• Maintain and consistently update a detailed overview of Zum's active claims portfolio across commercial auto, personal injury, and employment matters in all jurisdictions.

• Monitor trends in employment claims and threatened claims across various yards and regions, identifying patterns by location, management, or operational unit, and escalating emerging trends before they intensify.

• Track key case milestones and reserve alterations to highlight deviations for strategic evaluation.

• Develop and sustain systems and processes for real-time claims visibility, ensuring accurate and timely information for stakeholder reporting.

• Oversee the claims lifecycle from initiation to resolution, ensuring uniform reserve practices and TPA accountability during periods of rapid expansion.

• Identify opportunities for reducing reserves and IBNR estimates through proactive claim management, earlier resolutions, and data-driven re-evaluations of case trajectories.

• Prepare briefing documents and trend summaries that facilitate proactive discussions with operations leadership by converting claims and incident data into clear, actionable talking points connected to specific yards, routes, or operational patterns.

• Monitor external litigation trends, verdict data, and settlement benchmarks pertinent to school transportation, supporting litigation trend monitoring with quantitative analysis.

• Generate risk trend reports that contribute to the legal team’s cross-functional collaboration with operations, safety, and HR on strategies for accident reduction and liability mitigation.

• Manage relationships with insurance brokers, the underwriting community, and other risk-related service providers (e.g., TPAs).

• Support carrier relationships by ensuring that carriers receive timely, accurate, and well-organized claims data and risk updates.

• Collaborate with Legal, Operations, and Finance to facilitate the insurance renewal process, ensuring that organizational risk is accurately represented and coverage requirements are satisfied.

• Design and implement a risk KPI framework encompassing claims resolution velocity, reserve accuracy, TPA performance, litigation cost trends, and settlement efficiency.

• Create and maintain dashboards that provide visibility into portfolio performance, organized by matter type, jurisdiction, and business line.

• Monitor KPIs against targets and produce periodic performance reports for internal leadership, translating claims data into clear, actionable insights.

• Continuously refine KPI definitions and reporting schedules as Zum's claims portfolio evolves with geographic expansion.

• Prepare comprehensive risk narratives, qualitative analyses, claims history reviews, and safety summaries for use in annual insurance renewals in close collaboration with cross-functional leaders.

• Identify risk factors, such as jurisdiction-specific verdict trends or recurring claim categories, that may influence coverage terms or premium outcomes, and work to proactively address them.

• Ensure that underwriting submissions reflect legal risk mitigation efforts, not just raw loss data, demonstrating to carriers that Zum manages claims with discipline and intention.

• Collaborate daily with operations to review incident data, aligning on risk flags, and ensuring claims intelligence flows seamlessly between the legal and operational aspects of the business.

• Develop a catastrophic risk framework that defines and prioritizes claim categories with the highest potential severity, including student injury, vehicle accidents resulting in serious bodily harm, and multi-claimant incidents, while tracking leading indicators for each.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field is required, with a preference for specialization in risk management or analytics.

• 10 years of progressive experience in corporate risk management, insurance, claims, or related areas.
