Claims Director, Casualty

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• You will take charge of optimizing the complete Auto Casualty claims handling process.

• This includes the strategic integration of specialized vendors, utilizing cutting-edge technology, crafting innovative and legally compliant process flows, ensuring strict regulatory adherence, and forming a premier internal desk adjustment team specialized in bodily injury.

• You will be tasked with constructing this essential claims process infrastructure from the ground up.

• Collaborate strategically with the Claims Director, Auto Physical Damage on cross-functional projects and shared vendor relationships to enhance overall claims operations.

• Design the foundational framework and processes for all Auto and/or Casualty claims.

• Contribute to the formulation of the operational strategy and vision for the Openly Claims organization.

• Manage claim outcomes to achieve operational metric goals, including loss dollars, loss adjustment expenses, average claim cycle time, customer experience, employee experience, and regulatory compliance.

• Work alongside Vendor Management and Technology Teams to assess and select vendor partners.

• Establish and enforce segmentation rules for claim routing to maximize the effectiveness of technology, personnel, and vendors.

• Collaborate with the Data Strategy team to establish key operational metrics and automated reporting for improved transparency and data-driven decision-making.

• Provide policy and claims insights in conjunction with the Insurance Product team.

• Represent Openly at claims industry events and forums.

• Foster a robust culture of teamwork and shared accountability within the Casualty claims team and across the larger organization, promoting effective communication and problem-solving with all internal and external partners.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of industry trends, regulatory updates, and technological advancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in property & casualty insurance claims roles, with a proven record of increasing responsibility.

• At least 6 years of experience in leading and optimizing Auto Casualty claims teams, with a documented history of achieving significant operational results.

• Strong technical knowledge and proven expertise in managing Complex Bodily Injury claims, encompassing advanced claim handling strategies, negotiation techniques, and litigation management.

• Demonstrated ability to design, staff, and lead high-performing claims teams.

• A genuine passion for leadership, coaching, and talent development.

• Proven experience in strategic planning and budget management.

• Exceptional interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across all organizational levels.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguous environments and addressing complex business challenges.
