This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Rhode Island.
• Manage low to moderate complexity claims related to material damage, property, and/or liability insurance lines.
• Engage and communicate effectively with insured parties, claimants, and other stakeholders.
• Articulate benefits, coverage details, fault assessment, and the claims process both verbally and in writing.
• Identify and address common coverage issues as they arise.
• Conduct investigations via phone and/or in the field to ascertain liability and damages.
• Participate in legal proceedings as necessary.
• Gather statements from insured individuals, claimants, and witnesses.
• Assess and establish claim values utilizing property, bodily injury, and liability data.
• Negotiate within settlement authority to resolve claims for both first and third parties.
• Perform administrative tasks and maintain updates on database production reports.
• Document and refresh claim files using company systems such as CACS, HUON, HOC, and Guidewire.
• Verify and interpret coverage, resolving coverage issues by collecting requisite information.
• Collaborate with internal and external departments as needed.
• Independently address claim exposures within designated authority levels.
• Swiftly respond to customer inquiries and issues.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements, as well as internal technical and customer service best practices.
• Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.
• Preferred 4-6 years of experience in claims handling.
• Required 4-6 years of experience in property or casualty claims administration.
• Familiarity with claims best practices and procedures.
• Moderate understanding of building and vehicle repair methods.
• General knowledge of insurance principles, fault assessment, negligence, and subrogation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, general computer software, and claims software.
• Advanced skills in organization and planning.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles and state-issued minimum liability insurance (required).
• Associate in Claims designation from the Insurance Institute of America (preferred).
• An insurance/claims adjuster license may be necessary for claims administration in certain states (preferred).
• Willingness to travel occasionally to off-site business meetings or conferences (5%).
