Civil Engineer – Offshore, Cable Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Strengthen the Owner's Engineering team in the context of the deep integration of renewable energy sources along with Energy and Balancing Market Integration.

• Report directly to the senior project engineer involved in the project.

• Establish plant-specific requirements for HVDC converter stations and cable systems, focusing particularly on civil engineering aspects.

• Assess sites from a civil engineering viewpoint to determine feasibility and identify technical challenges.

• Analyze and contribute to the feasibility of cable routes, considering factors such as crossings, HDD, and access limitations.

• Oversee the entire technical implementation process, from the preparation of tender documents to the awarding of contracts.

• Compare technical and economic options and prepare for significant investment decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A diploma or master's degree in civil engineering.

• Several years of experience in infrastructure projects as a civil designer & engineer, consulting engineer, or project manager for a contractor, engineering/consulting firm, and/or employer.

• A solid understanding of civil engineering requirements for power infrastructure projects, particularly in outdoor HV substation design, HVDC converter stations, buildings, roads, trenches, crossings (HDD), steel structures, and control buildings.

• Experience in civil works, planning, design, and tendering; experience in project execution is an advantage.

• Ability to define the work scope for greenfield projects.

• Experience and ability to collaborate within a team of engineers to carry out complex transmission projects in Germany.

• Familiarity with project implementation according to the HOAI.

• Proficiency in both German and English.

• Specific experience and knowledge related to landfall civil works, such as cable landing HDD, is a plus.
