This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze video recordings, transcripts, written reports, and associated discovery materials from child interviews.

• Assess interviews for compliance with established forensic interview protocols and contemporary professional standards.

• Record specific deviations from established protocols and standards.

• Create detailed written reports and expert opinions.

• Provide expert testimony during depositions, trials, and other legal proceedings via telephone, video conference, or in person.

• Collaborate with attorneys as a subject-matter expert, offering strategic insights.

• Assist attorneys in pinpointing issues for cross-examination.

• Deliver Continuing Legal Education presentations either through webinars or in person.

• Develop new CLE presentation materials when requested and pre-approved.

• Keep abreast of literature, research, and advancements in child forensic interviewing, dynamics of child abuse, and disclosure.

• Maintain accurate time records and submit precise invoices.

• Travel out of state for testimony and case-related engagements.

• Adapt to changes in court schedules with reasonable notice.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.

• A Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or a related field is preferred.

• Documented completion of a forensic interview training curriculum recognized by the National Children’s Alliance for CAC accreditation, including NCA-approved state curricula.

• Current professional license or certification in good standing, where applicable to the discipline.

• Maintain relevant certifications and continuing education requirements.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting child forensic interviews, with documented evidence of interviews completed.

• Experience in a Children’s Advocacy Center, multidisciplinary team, child protective services, or law enforcement environment.

• Previous court testimony experience is strongly preferred.

• Prior experience as an expert witness or in forensic consultation is preferred.

• Experience in developing or delivering training or CLE presentations is preferred.

• Deep understanding of trauma-informed practices and child development.

• Familiarity with recognized forensic interview protocols and peer-reviewed literature on memory, suggestibility, and disclosure.

• Capability to explain complex interviewing and child development concepts in layman’s terms.

• Ability to maintain strict objectivity and provide opinions for either prosecution or defense.

• Capacity to articulate and defend an evidence-based opinion during cross-examination.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Professional demeanor and appearance for testimony.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without supervision.

• Proficiency with video review platforms, electronic case files, and computer systems.

• A dedicated, quiet, distraction-free home office.

• High-speed internet capable of streaming and reviewing video recordings.

• Secure storage for sensitive and confidential case materials involving minors.

• Availability to accept cases on short notice.

• Willingness to travel out of state, including by air.

• Ability to be away overnight and for more than one day when necessary.

• Valid driver’s license and identification that meets current TSA requirements for domestic air travel.

• Personal automobile liability insurance.

• Current professional liability insurance, specifically errors and omissions (E&O) coverage for professional consulting services.

• Compliance with confidentiality and non-disclosure obligations.

• Adherence to professional standards and ethical conduct.

• Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods and to stand or walk during court appearances.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to hear and interpret recorded audio.

• Capacity to see screen details, read printed materials, and observe non-verbal behavior on video.

• Ability to operate a computer and video review software for extended durations.
