
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist – Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Collaborate as a member of the virtual behavioral health team, delivering patient services utilizing evidence-based practices.
• Evaluate and diagnose mental and behavioral health disorders in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients; develop differential diagnoses.
• Exhibit sound clinical judgment in assessment and treatment, adhering to established clinical care protocols.
• Engage with the therapist team and medical leadership to discuss and refine patient treatment strategies.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests as necessary.
• Conduct comprehensive patient histories and initial evaluations of new patients.
• Prescribe medications within the scope of the license as part of the patient’s treatment plan.
• Deliver both medication management and counseling services to patients.
• Inform patients and their parents about medication side effects, benefits and risks, appropriate use, and realistic expectations regarding treatment outcomes.
• Develop and adjust patient treatment plans based on clinical evaluations and ongoing assessments using screening tools.
• Accurately document each patient encounter in the electronic medical record, including subjective and objective data, assessments, treatment plans, and any necessary additional documentation.
• Share the patient’s care plan with the behavioral health team and the patient's primary care physician.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to educate patients about their medical care.
• Continuously enhance clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, both formal and informal education, and literature review for personal and team benefit.
• Make appropriate referrals when necessary.
• Oversee psychiatric nurse practitioners.
• MD/DO with appropriate licensure in states where prescriptions are issued.
• Previous experience in psychopharmacology management.
• Board eligible or board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to assess potential risks to self or others.
• Proven commitment to ethical and professional conduct standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team.
• Valid DEA License in the states where prescriptions are issued (NY or NJ).
• Valid Medical License in the states where prescriptions are issued (NY or NJ).
• Valid Medicaid number in NY or NJ.
• Active NJ DEA License is required!
• NJ Medicaid Number is preferred.
• Part-time positions (20 hours or more) are eligible for benefits!
