This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Acquire an in-depth understanding of Mercy Ships' worldwide operations, strategic goals, and technology landscape.
• Assess the existing enterprise technology framework, which encompasses enterprise architecture, infrastructure, applications, integrations, cybersecurity, data governance, operational maturity, and technology investments.
• Formulate a multi-year enterprise technology strategy that aligns with the organizational strategy and business capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to enhance enterprise architecture, minimize technical debt, boost scalability, and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop enterprise principles for AI, automation, emerging technologies, and responsible innovation.
• Steer technology investment decisions through well-defined architectural principles and strategic alignment.
• Cultivate trusted relationships with current technology leadership, business leaders, National Offices, and operational stakeholders.
• Assess the effectiveness of the current technology operating model, including organizational capabilities, leadership capacity, and delivery maturity.
• Coach, mentor, and support technology leaders while enhancing accountability, collaboration, and execution.
• Propose and implement sanctioned organizational enhancements that bolster enterprise technology capabilities and long-term effectiveness.
• Encourage a culture of continual improvement, servant leadership, operational excellence, and enterprise thinking.
• Collaborate closely with the Strategy & Transformation Office to synchronize enterprise technology planning with organizational strategic planning, enterprise portfolio management, and transformation governance.
• Reinforce governance processes that support technology prioritization, investment decisions, architectural standards, risk management, and delivery oversight.
• Create strong links between organizational strategy, business capabilities, enterprise architecture, and technology investments.
• Enhance transparency regarding technology priorities, sequencing, and enterprise value.
• Review current project and program delivery practices, including business readiness, change management, solution design, vendor management, and implementation governance.
• Identify root causes contributing to delivery challenges, organizational friction, and execution risks.
• Collaborate with technology leadership to enhance execution discipline, organizational alignment, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Lead the implementation of approved enhancements that improve delivery maturity, operational excellence, and organizational trust.
• Help restore confidence in the technology function through transparency, measurable progress, and consistent executive leadership.
• Act as a trusted advisor to Executive Leadership and the Board concerning enterprise technology strategy, organizational capability, emerging technology, and investment priorities.
• Provide regular assessments, strategic recommendations, and updates on the progress of the technology function.
• Assist in executive decision-making related to enterprise modernization, technology-enabled transformation, and long-term organizational capability.
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including roles in executive technology leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in positions such as CTO, CIO, VP of Technology, or a comparable executive leadership role within complex enterprise environments.
• Proven success in leading enterprise technology transformation, organizational enhancement, enterprise architecture, or operational modernization initiatives.
• Strong capabilities in enterprise architecture and systems thinking across applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, integrations, and data.
• Experience in aligning enterprise technology strategy with organizational strategy and business priorities.
• Proven ability to cultivate trusted executive relationships while spearheading organizational change.
• Strong comprehension of globally distributed organizations and multicultural operational settings.
• Exceptional skills in executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational influence.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including extended flights and occasional time zone adjustments; travel is expected to be around 30-50%.
