📋 Description

• Take ownership of the strategic vision and provide technical leadership for USDR's digital transformation and AI initiatives.

• Deliver product and technical guidance across various USDR programs.

• Spearhead the go-to-market strategy for shared tools.

• Collaborate with product managers to expand outreach and enhance impact with government partners.

• Develop and refine offerings, including the Elections Administration Platform and AI tools.

• Strategically position, package, and scale products for sustainable government partner use.

• Strengthen service delivery and impact measurement across the organization.

• Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Define the principles for responsible AI adoption and deployment within USDR and government tools and prototypes.

• Build, hire, and lead a partner-facing AI team, contingent on funding availability.

• Create AI policies, tools, guardrails, and foster a culture of learning.

• Collaborate with the Volunteers Team and programs to explore AI opportunities for volunteer recruitment and engagement.

• Set the long-term direction for technology infrastructure, along with associated policies and operations.

• Manage and collaborate with the Tools & Ops Lead on internal tools and their adoption.

• Establish platform and infrastructure strategies that support government partners.

• Enhance technical fluency through documentation, training, and clear standards.

• Lead organization-wide priorities as a member of the Executive Team.

• Shape the long-term strategy for platforms and infrastructure while evaluating emerging technologies.

• Oversee organizational change initiatives.

• Participate in fundraising and development discussions as a technical representative.

• Travel 1–2 times per quarter for internal meetings and fundraising support.

• Directly manage the Tools & Ops Manager and the Elections Program, with the potential to supervise a new AI Studio.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building, shipping, and bringing technology to market.

• Direct leadership experience with engineering, product, or digital service teams.

• Experience in leading go-to-market strategies for products, preferably with government clients.

• Technical expertise to contribute to architectural and go-to-market decisions.

• Ability to draft scopes of work and/or publish code if coming from an engineering background.

• Demonstrated track record of managing across various functions.

• Experience in building and scaling at least one team from inception, including talent recruitment and development.

• Experience in leading responsible AI adoption in practical settings with constraints.

• Hands-on experience with AI strategy, responsible deployment, and/or AI governance.

• Understanding of AI’s transformative capabilities, limitations, and risks.

• Experience in establishing security and quality standards, technical documentation, escalation processes, and technical fluency.

• Ability to communicate technology decisions to program leaders, government partners, and funders in clear terms.

• Ability to lead and influence within a matrixed organization.

• Alignment with the USDR Community Oath and the organization’s values.

• Capacity to fulfill the role through a combination of education, experience, and measurable performance.

• Must reside in the United States.

• Must possess and maintain active U.S. Work Authorization.
