• Act as the operational representative for the CEO, driving the execution of strategic priorities throughout the organization and ensuring accountability at all levels.
• Directly oversee a team of directors and functional leaders in corporate operations, program management, marketing, and engineering support.
• Manage the execution of government programs, including contract administration, tracking deliverables, and maintaining customer relationships across AURA’s portfolio of defense contracts.
• Take charge of compliance readiness, coordinating efforts for CMMC Level 2 certification, meeting DFARS obligations, and adhering to related security and regulatory requirements.
• Handle IT and Managed Service Provider vendor relationships, ensuring AURA’s technology infrastructure meets the security and operational standards expected by our government and commercial clients.
• Keep financial projections, cash flow models, and operational metrics up to date, providing the CEO with clear insights into the business's health.
• Assist in preparing for strategic transactions related to potential technology spinoffs, licensing opportunities, or other initiatives at the portfolio level, including organizing data rooms and coordinating due diligence.
• Establish the business's operational rhythm, including leadership meetings, goal tracking, reporting schedules, and cross-functional coordination.
• Identify organizational gaps and inefficiencies, taking decisive action to strategically create and integrate structure, function, and accountability into critical business areas to enhance operational maturity and efficiency.
• Be prepared to step into any functional area as necessary. In a company of our size, the Chief of Staff is the individual who recognizes a problem and takes ownership, irrespective of the department it pertains to.
• Over 10 years of professional experience, with a significant portion spent in or directly supporting the U.S. federal government (DoD experience is highly preferred).
• Comprehensive understanding of federal procurement and contracting processes, as well as insights into how the government assesses and manages contractor relationships.
• Proven experience in managing teams and holding individuals accountable for outcomes — you have led people, not merely projects.
• Strong financial acumen — comfortable with budgets, cash flow projections, and translating financial data into operational decisions.
• Familiarity with government compliance frameworks (CMMC, DFARS, NIST 800-171) or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex regulatory environments.
• Outstanding organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple competing priorities without oversight.
• Prudent judgment in ambiguous situations — you understand when to act independently and when to escalate matters.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
