Chief Financial Officer, CFO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Establish the organization's long-term financial strategy and model the costs associated with ongoing and future programs and operations, with a specific emphasis on treasury management.

• Facilitate informed decision-making by delivering insights into MCD’s financial performance and future projections.

• Ensure transparency, accountability, and effective budget management.

• Lead the annual budgeting process, securing approval from the Board of Directors.

• Supervise the biannual budget reforecasting process.

• Generate monthly financial statements along with budget reports for all project and overhead accounts.

• Guarantee the timeliness, accuracy, and relevance of regular and ad hoc financial information provided to staff members, the Board of Directors, funders, and regulatory bodies.

• Collaborate closely with program staff to ensure that MCD’s projects meet or exceed 90% of budget/forecast spending.

• Ensure compliance with U.S. Government/IRS and donor regulations.

• Manage the annual external audit and the submission of Form 990.

• Periodically assess and refine financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance effectiveness and reduce risk.

• Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure program compliance with national, state, and local regulations across all jurisdictions where MCD Global Health operates, both domestically and internationally.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.

• Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a plus.

• A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial management experience, including executive-level leadership and at least five years in a supervisory role.

• Experience leading a finance team in either a non-profit or for-profit organization with an annual budget of at least $50 million, ideally within the public health or healthcare sector.

• Proven experience working with a diverse range of funder types, including both public and private entities.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory; knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese would be advantageous.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
