Chief Development Officer

📋 Description

• Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive national development strategy aimed at raising over $35M over multiple years.

• Cultivate, manage, and grow a portfolio of major donors, family foundations, and institutional partners with a focus on securing long-term commitments.

• Design, launch, and oversee fundraising initiatives and campaigns that enhance our brand visibility and extend our reach throughout the country.

• Act as a senior representative for Sharing Excess, engaging with donors, participating in public forums, and collaborating with partners.

• Establish and maintain effective systems for donor relationships, including oversight of CRM, segmentation, reporting, and tracking to support a nationwide donor network.

• Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams (Finance, Marketing, Operations, Program) to ensure alignment between fundraising objectives and organizational priorities.

• Provide timely, clear, and impactful communications to donors and deliver reports that illustrate how their contributions lead to measurable food distribution and community outcomes.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Development team by setting performance targets, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence, and ensuring opportunities for professional growth.

• Assist in long-term planning by collaborating with the CEO and leadership team to project funding needs, evaluate new growth opportunities, and maintain fiscal sustainability.

• Monitor and analyze key development metrics, adjust strategies based on data insights, and communicate progress to leadership and the board.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of seven years of fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing major gifts in the six- and seven-figure range.

• A background in building and scaling fundraising programs within rapidly growing organizations.

• In-depth knowledge of donor management systems, including the structure of CRM, segmentation, automation, and reporting capabilities.

• Ability to define, track, and analyze key development metrics to inform strategic decisions.

• Experience in collaborating with various departments to integrate fundraising efforts with finance, marketing, and operations.

• High emotional intelligence and a talent for cultivating genuine, trusting relationships with individuals.
